You have to realize two things to enjoy this movie.
PG-13 films are typically not for children. Parents seem to think just because its animated means “hey take the kids.” Well how about we think a little BEFORE we go running to the theatre? Complains about that are just unfounded. The rating says it all, PAY ATTENTION.
The second thing you must realize is that this is an ADAM SANDLER movie, like his earlier films. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, all crude and rude, get over it. That was his style and he brought it back to make one of the funniest adult animated movies ever. The jokes here are classic, from whiteys seizures to him doing the robot in the middle of a basketball game. His sister eleanor has the cutest voice which I’ve been imitating ever since I saw the movie. The townsfolk are a scream, with rob schneider as an asian waiter. and jon lovitz as a man with a hook for a hand. This is a very unconventional Hannukah movie for the holidays. Sure it’s gross, but if your offended than go rent the Ya Ya Sisterhood or some crap like that.This one is for the guys, not for parents or children. Next time read the rating before you complain. Don’t believe all the crap, this movie was HILARIOUS. If you like Kevin Smith movies or Adam sandler movies than see this and bust a gut laughing. (hopefully not literally)
I really enjoyed this movie. Unlike The Wedding Singer, the humor was a bit more locker room gross-out, but like the Wedding Singer, it was filled with sentiment and heart. An angry Scrooge-like Jewish man learns to grieve, let go, and love the holidays again. No, it’s not for small kids. That’s why it’s rated PG-13. Sandler shows tremendous talent and versatility as the voices of Davy, Eleanor and Whitey, the latter two being annoying elderly fraternal twins whom Davy grows to love despite their freakishness. Rob Schneider, Jon Lovitz, Kevin Nieland add their talent, as well as cameos by Tyra Banks and rock singer Ann Wilson as Davy’s mom. Alison Krauss lends her sweetness as the singing voice of Jennifer, Davy’s childhood love, now a single mom. The music is the most outstanding part of this film. The lyrics are silly and goofy, but also clever, and the song structures are dynamic and hooky, and will stay with you afterward. If you go into this movie realizing it’s not a white-washed Disney flick for the kids, but it’s a funny, sometimes gross, but sensitive Christmas story that tackles somewhat-adult issues, like why some people hate the holidays, I think you’ll enjoy it almost as much as I did. It’s also loaded with special features that are worthwhile, too.

While the cover may promise CONAN and LORD OF THE RINGS, fantasy fans will find a lot of unique elements in Wolfhound beyond those two seminal series. What keeps bringing me back to this film is the imaginative look at early Russian Mythology, particularly the benign gods and how Volkodav (Wolfhound) uses the elements of Good and the Light to defeat the darkness.

Playing Wolfhound is Russian actor Aleksandr Bukharov who invests his brooding protagonist with some very primal realism. The fact his sidekick is a pet bat doesn’t hurt.
While the story is something we’ve seen before, the unique way its told makes it fresh and new.

It takes a lot for me engage in a double dip purchase, but Wolfhound is one of those I am glad to buy again.
If you’re into High Fantasy and appreciate unique twists on good vs. evil, you’ll enjoy Wolfhound.
IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! THEY ARE MOSTLY FOR THE WRONG MOVIE WITH THE SAME TITLE (some werewolf movie) – I am telling you this ‘WOLFHOUND’ movie is simply INCREDIBLE!!! There are so many people who would LOVE this movie IF they just watched it! I’m a big fantasy movie fan (Lord of The Rings are my favorite movies of all time) and I have to say that the same powerful feeling of being swept away both imaginatively and emotionally while watching LOTR can be found in this epic fantasy masterpiece as well! It’s that powerful! This was such an astounding movie experience that I just HAD to get on here and set the record straight! Fantasy movie fans (AND FANS OF ‘GREAT MOVIES’ IN GENERAL) cannot afford to miss this movie! Negative comments about the special effects are COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED! Most of the special effects are JUST AS GOOD AS LORD OF THE RINGS! That may sound like a stretch but this movie had a huge budget and employed the greatest craftsmen in Russia and beyond. The CGI work is absolutely FLAWLESS and the epic battle at the end is full of jaw-dropping effects that perfectly compliment THE BEST FANTASY MOVIE ENDING EVER! There are a few melodramatic ‘Beastmaster’ moments (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing) in the first 30 minutes but don’t let that fool you. This movie matures VERY QUICKLY and becomes an engrossing fantasy adventure filled with very likeable characters, sweeping vistas that will make you want to visit Russia ASAP, and imaginative scenes of sorcery that will totally amaze you! The haunted swamp scene will go down in history as one of the all time greatest fantasy battles ever! (DON’T WATCH WITH THE GOOFY ENGLISH AUDIO TRACK- THAT MAY BE INFLUENCING NEGATIVE REVIEWS – WATCH WITH SUBTITLES FOR A MORE SERIOUS & POWERFUL EFFECT THE WAY THE MOVIE WAS INTENDED TO BE VIEWED) And yes, I’m man enough to admit I actually shed some tears at the end! That hasn’t happened since the LOTR movies. This movie deserves SERIOUS ATTENTION! (I envy those who were able to experience it in the theater!) It’s an unjustly overlooked modern CLASSIC!

Humphrey Bogart portrays Red, continuing his climb to stardom in this brisk film that’s one of a string of Depression-era works combining gangster-movie elements with a Big House setting. Studio mainstay Pat O’Brien plays Steve Jameson, whose carrot-and-stick reforms begin to change Red’s thinking. An inmates’ strike and a scripture-quoting con who swipes a rifle are among the troubles Jameson faces. And Red is another as he reverts to his old ways and makes a violent break for freedom.
